About eduReboot

I told myself for a long time that I wasn’t smart enough to go back to college. I was too old to go back. I was too busy to take courses. I didn’t have enough money to pay for it. Even if I could solve all those problems, I’d be older that everyone there. I’d probably be older than the professors in some cases! No, the time to go to college had passed many years ago, and the rest of my life was decided.

I let myself be content with mediocrity. I allowed myself to be complacent without achieving my dreams. It was easier not to try, not to step out of my comfortable, mundane existence. But even a comfortable, mundane existence can get boring or downright depressing.

Hello! My name is Brian, and I’m really glad you’re here. If you made it this far, can I ask you for one small thing? If you’ll promise me that you’ll read to the end of this page, I’ll give you what you need to change your life. It’s only a few minutes of your time. Deal?

Good! I spent fifteen years as a 911 dispatcher and radio operator before I went back to school, and I had been away from formal education for about 20 years. I had resigned myself to that lifestyle, salary, and routine. I had been comfortable where I was for so long that everything became routine. One day, everything became unbearably comfortable. I had become an expert in my field, found little challenge in the work, and felt like every day was exactly the same.

I had to do something–change something–before I went crazy.

I had believed all the myths I could create or find, but I slowly began to break free from those comfortable lies I repeated in my head. Like many other working adults outside the typical college student age bracket, I had convinced myself that this was it. I had reached the peak, and after a short plateau, I would begin the long downward slope to the end.

Once I dragged myself back to college, all the myths melted away. The fear turned to contentment, and then to determination. As I completed courses at my community college, I decided that stopping there wasn’t enough.

I had believed all the lies I told myself–I wasn’t good enough, it was too late, I was too stupid, and there was no point–but I went anyway. At the end of my community college experience, I completed two associate degrees. But I wasn’t done.

I continued on to seek a bachelor’s degree at university. The courses became harder, but by then, I was fully invested and motivated. Nothing was going to stop me. That’s the key, really: once you get started, you’ll find that it’s nearly impossible for anyone or anything to stop you, not even yourself. And you get through it faster than you would have ever imagined.

Maybe not this hard… but it felt like it sometimes!

And so we arrive at the present, and I can look back on all the things I accomplished. So far:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Programming Technology, Hinds Community College, summa cum laude.
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Software Engineering Technology, Hinds Community College, summa cum laude.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, from Southern New Hampshire University, magna cum laude.
  • Candidate for Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, with a specialization in Interactive Intelligence, the Georgia Institute of Technology.

I have achieve so much in such a short time, but the purpose of this website is not to show what I have done but to show you what you can achieve!

The only thing standing between you and your best future is a commitment to fulfill your dreams.

If you’re ready, let me help you get started!
